Manufacturer

Aiwa is a Japanese-based consumer electronics company, founded in 1951. The company was most popular during the 1970s and 1980s, establishing themselves as one of the premier manufacturers of audio and video equipment.

Aiwa has also produced many “firsts” within the industry. They were the first manufacturer to produce the cassette tape recorder, the stereo cassette deck, the recording headphone stereo and digital audio tape (DAT) products. During the 1990s, due to heavy competition, their flagship products, HiFi systems and analogue radios, began to lessen in price as demand diminished. Over time, Aiwa was unable to compete with rivaling companies and was soon bought out by Sony Corporation on October 1, 2002. Sony re-branded and re-launched Aiwa as a revitalized brand name where computer-literate teenagers and young adults can come for all forms of PC entertainment (music, films, TV, chat).

The Aiwa DM-H200 is a basic Karaoke microphone. The unidirectional hi-fi microphone comes equipped with chrome detailing in a trendy translucent plastic casing. Its cable is 9 ft. long and is also built with an on/off switch. The DM-5200 is perfectly built for professional usage.

The Aiwa CM-DS6 and the CM-S33 are stereo condenser microphones. They come equipped with high/low sensitivity selector switches and can operate up to 400 hours at a time. The one point stereo pick-up pattern has a 90” to 120” directive angle for specific location recording. The CM-DS6 and CM-S33 also comes with a wide angle recording microphone stand.

The Aiwa CM-P11 and the Aiwa CM-P22 are separable stereo microphones. The left and right microphones can operate attached or separated. Each microphone also functions according to the one point pick-up pattern. The CM-P11 and CM-P22 operates on an easy-to-use direct Plug-In Power line.

The Aiwa CM-M350 and the Aiwa CM-S330 are mono and stereo microphones, respectively. Both microphones come in two shades of gray. They are also both Plug-in power exclusive and easy to install in the necktie or the pocket. The CM-M350 can pick up sounds in all directions (mono) while the CM-S330 has a 2 X single directivity (stereo).

The Aiwa CM-Z32 through CM-Z35 series are condenser zoom microphones. They all offer the economical electrical design of continuous 400-hour usage as well as a compact folding design made for easy carrying. The adjustment possibility of each microphone unit is 0-180 degrees. Most importantly, and most conveniently at that, the CM-Z3X series microphones come equipped with zoom/wide pick-up patterns and a zoom/wide select switch.

The Aiwa CM-TS22 and the Aiwa CM-TS56 are condenser microphones with a frequency response of 100-15,000Hz. The dynamic range on each microphone is approximately 55Db. The Plug-in Power battery can be used for at least 150 hours at a time. The compact size and lapel of the microphones makes it perfect for desktop usage.

The Aiwa CM-TM25 and the Aiwa CM-TM57 are Tie-Pin/Desktop microphones. That means that the microphones have a 2-way plug-in power source (tie-pin or desktop). The microphones have three extremely small plugs that can be used with stereo equipment to provide the highest sensitivity and utmost clarity in sound. There is also a gold-plated plug that allows sound in all directions to be evenly distributed and recorded.

In 2006, due to poor sales, Aiwa products were discontinued and no longer sold on the market. Nonetheless, Aiwa microphones can still be purchased via retailers across the web.
