With over 60 years in the sound business, B&K has long been
known for precision instrumentation. Working with a variety of clients, B&K was
recently recognized by Automotive Testing Technology International as their

many renowned experts in the various fields of sound and engineering. These experts are often speakers at
conferences and advise governmental agencies on international standards for
sound transmission.
B&K
is also part of the Sound Research Unit (SQRU).
This group studies the way sound is perceived by the brain and how to
incorporate this knowledge into improving the quality of sound products. In studying human
sound perception the group works to test and improve the sound quality of
various products and the overall fidelity of amplified sound. Other members of the SQRU include Bang &
Olufsen and DELTA.
The Brüel & Kjær microphone line includes pressure-field microphones, microphone and preamplifier
combinations, diffuse-field microphones and special microphones such as
condenser microphones, probe microphones and weather-proof microphones. Microphones are sold direct to the consumer
at 800-332-2040, option 2. The majority
of B&K’s microphone products retail for about $1,000; some of the more
specialized microphones can sell for much more.
B&K also has a rental program for most of the items they
create. B&K has no retail showrooms
and does not sell its product directly to any retail chains.
