Koss Corporation is a U.S.
based company that is mostly known for designing and manufacturing headphones but they do manufacture microphones.
Koss was originally founded
in 1953 by John C. Koss as a hospital TV rental business in Milwaukee, WI.
Eventually they evolved into Koss Audio
& Video Electronics in 1991. Some of their most signature products
include the Koss Plug and Koss Spark Plug (noise isolation
earphones). Most recently, their continued success has been attributed to the Koss Hybrid (high-end Etymotic ear tip)
and the mega-popular Koss Porta Pro. Koss’s
budget-priced electronics are widely-regarded as some of the best low-end electronics
on the market.
The Koss M18 & M15 are signature microphones for the computer accessories line. Designed specifically
for convenience, the M18 & M15 microphones can be used on a desk or
tabletop and can be bent in various directions for optimum usage and recording
efficiency. The low-profile base can also be slid under a keyboard to conserve
space. The electret-condenser features an impedance of 2.2k ohm (100-16,000 Hz)
and is best served on an amplified computer sound-card system. When using
non-amplified systems, an external power line is required. The M18 & M15 microphones
cost approximately $14.99 U.S.D.
The Koss M11 microphone is designed for all-purpose recording. Its casing is
hardwearing and long-lasting. The unidirectional M11 microphone can detect
sound in any given direction. It also features a 10-foot cable cord. It is
designed to run independently, without the need for an extra power supply. The
M11 microphone has a frequency response of 80-12,000 Hz with an impedance of
600 ohms. The M11 microphone costs approximately $9.99 U.S.D.
The Koss M5 microphone is lightweight, hands-free, and compact; made
to attach to your clothing or computer screen. The clip allows it to be worn
close to your mouth while the adhesive-backed base allows it to be mounted onto
your monitor. It is available only in black and comes equipped with an 8-foot
single entry straight cable cord. The ultra-sensitive electret-condenser carries
a frequency response of 50-8,000 Hz and a microphone impedance of 2.2k ohm. The
unidirectional M5 microphone features an optimized pick-up pattern that allows
the greatest sensitivity to sound. It is best used for voice-activated or
voice-recognition software applications and computer voice mail systems. It is
also compatible with most computers and sound cards. A DC-voltage power supply
is necessary to power the microphone. The Koss M5 microphone costs approximately $9.99
U.S.D.
