Dynamic Microphones

Dynamic Microphones are extremely common, rugged microphones that operate by means of a moving coil within a magnetic field. When sound waves hit the diaphragm, it moves back and forth in response to the movement of the wave. The diaphragm is attached to a coil, which in turn moves past a magnet and a current is produced. Simple in their composition, dynamic microphones can endure very loud sounds and plenty of abuse. Although they might not have the frequency response of a condenser or ribbon mic, they are tremendously versatile and usually reasonably priced.
