There is really nothing like Ebay; it has brought commerce to a whole new level allowing everyone to be a retailer. If you are looking for something rare, new, used, or cheap, Ebay can introduce to a huge network of stores and individuals.
It’s kind of a crapshoot as to whether or not you’ll find what you want on any given day. Also, many times you are dealing with individuals, not stores, so you are opening yourself up to dealing with countless shipping methods, return policies, etc.
Ebay is great for finding rare stuff, products that are off the market or just things you might never even knew existed. For a community of buyers and sellers exchanging items through auctions and fixed prices, there is nothing else like it.
Most people have had some experience with Ebay. It pretty much allows anyone to make some money off of their old stuff and provides a massive network of sellers to find any number of things. When looking for microphones, I found a used Neumann U87 in like-new condition for around $1700. A brand new one can cost closer to $3,000. I also found several AKG D112 Kick Drum pedals in various states for various prices. For fun, I decided to look up Vintage microphones and turned up some really great stuff from Art Deco Ribbon mics to old RCA Police Car Radio Control boxes.
