Microphone Bags and Cases

Microphone bags and cases are great for protecting and transporting microphones.  Bags are generally sufficient for more durable dynamic microphones.  For a band or performer with several microphones, it would probably be more efficient and safe to keep them all together in a hard-shell case.  They usually come with molded foam interiors to give each mic a home, as well as additional compartments for emergency mics, cords, or other parts.  In the studio, the main reasons for keeping your mic in a bag or case is to protect it from dust, moisture, and the grimy fingers of passing musicians.  The high-end microphones like the Neumann U87 usually come with a box case and foam mold for safe keep.
