The stage can be a rough environment.  Not only that, but traveling to the stage can be rough, too.  Your microphone selection should be geared towards road-worthiness.  Dynamic mics are most definitely your best bet.  Their construction and design are able to withstand drops, bangs, bruises, and constantly being yelled at.  Shure even used to advertise their mics as “bullet-proof,” though it’s a bad sign if people are shooting at you while you sing.  The other great advantage of using dynamic mics is they’re inexpensive, easily replaced, moderately versatile, and there are a ton from which to choose.
